My story
I got into real estate lending in 1997 as a loan officer with a local hard money lender in Baltimore. By the early 2000s I was investing on my own — building a rental portfolio, flipping houses, and eventually doing new construction. In 2009 I founded MD Private Lender to give local investors the kind of direct, experienced lender I always wished I'd had access to.
Since then we've funded more than $100 million across 400+ loans, and I've personally flipped over 100 homes, built a large rental property portfolio, and completed several new-construction projects. We've been through market crashes, booms, and everything in between — and kept closing on our commitments through all of it.
Because I've been on every side of the table — lender, investor, and borrower — I evaluate deals the way an investor does, not the way a bank does. That's the difference.
